It will bring together deaf and hearing musicians, artists, film makers, and writers from across the UK, USA, and Barbados. Music is a powerful expressive tool in society and, in our digital age, often attracts and inspires people from all corners of the world.

This thought provoking project is a very real, exciting and ground-breaking opportunity for the deaf community of Barbados (+ the UK & Worldwide) to be brought to the forefront of attention, building self-confidence, language development, and pride. It will promote engagement with the hearing world and the opportunity for the deaf community to begin harnessing their talents and using new skills to establish community projects and businesses of their own.

Our Objectives are: To raise awareness and understanding of deafness, giving deaf Barbadians a ‘voice’ through music and visual arts, enabling them to be ‘heard’; to reinforce wider musical and cultural identity among deaf Barbadians.; to initiate and sustain deaf and hearing relationships by involving local businesses, artists, musicians, educators and social care teams; to improve the data on deaf people living on the island of Barbados in turn improving educational resources and workforce opportunities for deaf people on the island, thus increasing their meaningful contributions to society; to work closely with the Barbados Council for the Disabled to further develop Cultural Social Policy for deaf Barbadians, improving accessibility, recreational opportunities, equality and infrastructure on the island, especially through the advent of technology; to improve access to health care (especially aural health) for deaf Barbadians with leads, suggestions and recommendations.

We rejoice in the theme that “NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE”
